the basic data type classes like "String" are interesting in and of themselves because although the ABI defines primitive manipulation methods, the nature of the beasts is that you're going to want to wrap and expose that functionality via a bunch of more native-feeling stuff, and so every set of bindings will inevitably end up with its own version of "how to turn a string literal into a String instance"
but this is fine, it's a limited surface area of non-repetitive stuff
