This actually has me thinking about if, as a programmer tool (i.e., something that we don't expect to be glossy or completely frictionless) I could deploy a text editor as a web app running from a local server, but accessed via a standard browser. Basically Electron without the Chrome shell that has to be kept up to date. It's not the worst idea I've ever had. Might be worth an experiment.
