Every kid who likes smashing cars together and making noises should have Rigs Of Rods downloaded onto their computer.
Rigs Of Rods is open source, free, has an ingame browser for downloading new cars and maps, and works perfectly fine offline. It also is an ancient game so it runs great on crappy hardware.
Additionally modders over the years have made some truly great vehicles, like the offroad racing trucks that are hard to find in other paid racing games.
