Spent the evening reading the latest entry in a recent genre, Ukrainian literary authors who can't write fiction because of the war publish their journals, “Diary of an Invasion" by Andrey Kurkov. This bit struck me as appealingly surreal:
“Alena has a favorite phrase in Hungarian: ‘Jó reggelt kivanok!’—Good morning! This sounds a little funny to Ukrainians because it reminds us of the Ukrainian words for ‘hedgehog under the sofa’”
