"What we hope will happen when we do X" and "what WILL happen when we do X in the context of a blighted capitalist hellscape and an industry entirely run by narcissistic sociopaths" are two entirely different things
Much like software features need to be designed with the inevitable attempts to use them for abuse in mind, standardisation needs to be done with an awareness that software is a fucked up industry with messed up incentives.
