It’s the one week a year where grocery store peaches are edible, which reminds me how much I miss the roadside fruit stands from when I was a kid. We moved away, but the farms also all got turned into houses anyway so even when I visit they’re gone. Farmers markets aren’t the same, these little stands were open all day everyday, all over the place so you could just stop for a minute wherever you were going and pick up the best strawberries, cherries, peaches, or apricots all summer.
