been working on and off, as a hobby, on switching my #windows gaming pc to a #linux setup for some years now, since valve started to really make progress on the steam deck
my experience so far has been that, maybe once or twice i've randomly gotten the correct combination of mesa repo (free or non free? newest? too new?), nvidia driver repo (same, not too new, not too old), kernel, steam flatpak, flatpak libraries for mesa and opengl that match the driver version ... proton ge version that works with all of those things and is compiled against teh same glibc on my system that hasnt been randomly updated... and i can get like 80% of my games to run
but then, a week later, a month later, there will be an update and everything will stop working, and ill spend days trying to figure out what it was
so, still running windows 11
