This week I read "The War of the Worlds", H. G. Wells' 1897 classic. While we all know the general story, the book is worth the read, especially since you can get it FREE if you have a Kindle.

Here's the free edition: amazon.com/gp/product/B0088Q0F

It was very interesting to me to read the original and think of what the future looked like from that perspective- the mechanical, seemingly steam-driven machines of the Martians. The deeper personal interaction than we got in the movies. Go read it again (or for the first time).

A book cover.

The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells

The city of London shows through a foggy night sky. Westminster in the distance, with gothic towers. Closer there are lit street lamps.

In the foreground, a saucer-shaped machine with flailing tentacles walks towards London on three legs.

Above, the sky crackles with lightning and several more objects falling from the sky.
