I feel like I'm struggling with the shutdown of #ICQ.
Yes, there are now a multitude of alternative messengers with their respective advantages and disadvantages. But each platform is unique, because the users are what make a platform special. It was the same for me with ICQ.
I met great people there and maintained contacts for many years. The shutdown of ICQ feels like the home of many friendships and memories has burned down. It's a painful feeling.
Fortunately, I am still in contact with a person who is very important to me. Nevertheless, I would like to express that from a financial point of view the shutdown of ICQ is certainly justified but for a lot of users it destroys an important platform for communication with friends and a lot of memories.
May ICQ rest in peace or rise again like a phoenix from the ashes.
