2/ Meta: We all model things in practice, and we often use that model to guide what we want to do. And as a map, as a plan, a model is a high level simplification, a communication tool, a thinking tool.
But if you used models the way economists are in meteorology the field would have stopped at high school understanding: some hand-wavy thing about heat, evaporation and clouds. And they would say what economists say: “Listen, it’s complicated, who really knows?The clouds should clearly have worked like this, so they’re must be broken.”
And that is not the level we expect of any academic field today. That’s the level a lot of other fields were at centuries ago.
