B11 King's Festival appears to be the B2 like introductory adventure for the 1991 Black Box edition of Basic D&D. It really tries to hold the hand of the DM and explain things. I think it does a much better job of explaining things than B2, but I bet most Grognards would turn up their noses at the dumbing down the text goes through. I even think the presentation of an orc lair is a bit more logical than B2, although now, 30+ years later, I am thoroughly bored of orc lairs.
Still, I find it strange that an hand holding introductory adventure was even needed for Black Box D&D. The box set itself contained a very detailed, hand holding, introductory adventure. Surely someone who ventured to a bookstore to buy a new adventure was ready for something a little more complex.
