We were of similar mind on masking. Although there are plenty of winter respiratory illnesses and COVID around, very few people wear masks. So, it’s up to the sick and vulnerable to protect themselves. I don’t mind taking personal responsibility for this — I think it’s an obligation for individuals to be careful — but it’s people who are sick and don’t stay at home or wear a mask who are a problem.
Before I retired at the end of last year I could spend up to 3 hours a day in the train and bus commuting to work. Very few other people wore masks on the trips.
