How crunchy are you? When you play or run a role playing game, do you like a system with a lot of rules and mechanics, or do you want something lighter that gets out of the way?
I prefer lighter systems. Thinking about characters as builds make me cringe and d20 games require a level of system mastery to be really effective with all the feats and piles upon piles of source books.
I do like GURPS, but I prefer the lighter rules. Character creation is involved, but you get a very clear idea of who you're playing and the work is largely front loaded.
