Still restoring window siding, working my way around the house. Quite boring.
Scraping and sanding the flakey stuff and dead wood off, filling gaps with acrylic goop (reduced shrink, instant overpaintable but it doesn't smear well), then exterior latex paint that might last 5-10 years (25 years, the label lies).
One had silicone sealant poisoning, luckily just one. Had to scrape that all off before anything stuck.

White PVC window set in a log house with brown exterior planking. The siding was also white, but flaking paint has been scraped and sanded, some caulking applied in the mitered corners and on the bottom joint between window and siding. The wood looks old and manky. Masking tape surrounds the outer edges.
Same window, now with fresh white paint and masking tape removed. It matches the plastic window frame and looks neat and tidy. Unfortunately the previous guy didn't use masking tape and his faded overpaint is still surrounding the edges.
