It seems to me there is a clear, modern ethical path built around emotional intelligence and consent. Everyone is supposed to stay in touch with their own emotions, be aware of others' emotions, and agree on boundaries.

But.

Most people I meet *aren't* emotionally intelligent. They aren't good at discussing boundaries, or talking about emotions at all.

As an person, I find this a hell of a challenge. What, for example, do you do when someone you care about is being an arse?
