I revisit this idea quite often. Part of this game would be generating star systems with acceptable scientific accuracy. I came across Walker System Generator which does exactly this. And while I'm really impressed with the results there is also the code ... my god, the code.
Global variables with arbitrary names, manipulated in various methods and generating HTML on the fly for text output 😱
