Shopping for technical things with limited language (I'm at A1 apparently) is tricky.
Either shop online, or look it up first to figure out the words and then go to the shop to ask for it. Or look up a photo and wave your phone around, an old #CruisingLife favourite.
The wife being fluent doesn't help as much as you'd expect, because she's never seen a toilet flushy valvy thingy and doesn't know what it's called either :)
