I’m dipping into the Complete Stories of Flannery O’Connor. They’re funny around the edges but, as they say, serious as a heart attack. I’ve read three stories so far, and the body count is 8 already.
A lot of her characters are what you might call yokels, but O’Connor is happy to follow their thought processes for miles and miles.
