This comic from @designthinkingcomic hits a little too close to home.

Remember how you’d set the pace in the Oregon Trail to “grueling” and, while it would get you to Oregon faster, it would wear down everything and everyone faster, too?

Under late-stage capitalism, there’s no Oregon—at least not for labor. We’re not the settlers, we’re the oxen.

Six panel comic, in which the designer progressively ages and grows more distraught as the boss makes excuses:

1. Things will calm down after we finish this sprint
2. Things will calm down after we ship this feature
3. Things will calm down after we launch the new product
4. Things will calm down after we get Series C funding
5. Things will calm down after we go public

In the sixth and final panel, the boss stands over the designer’s grave and says “See?”
