We often find our direct experience at odds with the science.
We may know several men who were too late to act on their prostate symptoms. Or someone who did have surgery and survived and there was no drama.
Perhaps we cannot see the forest for the trees. Our personal experiences are no less true, just not useful in formulating public health policy. We don't personally see the thousands of lives lost or saved, we only see our own experience and draw conclusions based on "limited data".
