I think Starmer has erred here. He's only thinking short term - the agenda of today. But ignoring the longer term - that if he further alienates the left wing part of the party, he's likely not going to have a second term.
Add in the fact that the 2 child cap has been shown to be a driver of childhood poverty, and it's an extremely odd hill for Starmer to die on.
