There is another aspect of this that isn't covered.
5 years for planning a peaceful protest vs actual more violent crime getting around the same.
Cracking down on peaceful protest in this way is how you end up with domestic terror groups.
We need to allow peaceful protest, even when it is annoying and disruptive. That's part of democracy.
