In The Jordan Museum in Amman stands the Two-Headed Human Statue from ’Ain Ghazal, an artifact from the 7th millennium BC. Made from plaster and asphalt, its two heads with lifelike bitumen eyes are immediately striking.
The purpose of this 9,000 year old Neolithic statue remains unclear, with some thinking it symbolizes life and death, while others suggest it reflects societal roles or spiritual beliefs.
