The US dollar's value is not primarily due to its use in oil transactions (the "petrodollar"). Rather, the dollar is valuable because of its wide global network and the ease with which oil sale proceeds can be invested in US Treasuries. Oil producers will likely continue accepting dollars for oil payments for these practical reasons, rather than because of the petrodollar system.
