Just got reminded of the time a smug climate sceptic emailed me a bunch of 'gotcha' questions in response to something I wrote, and had the terrible bad luck to catch me when I was bored at work and in a sarcastic mood.

1. Are temperatures over the last century exceptional compared to the last 10,000 years? ⁃ Yes totally. Although some scientists rate them as 'very good', saying they lose points for a middling soundtrack
 2. When atmospheric CO2 concentrations during the Ordovician period were 10-15 times higher than today, was the Earth a fireball or iceball? ⁃ 1 think it was Fireball, then Iceball. I believe the final part of the trilogy

1. Are temperatures over the last century exceptional compared to the last 10,000 years? ⁃ Yes totally. Although some scientists rate them as 'very good', saying they lose points for a middling soundtrack 2. When atmospheric CO2 concentrations during the Ordovician period were 10-15 times higher than today, was the Earth a fireball or iceball? ⁃ 1 think it was Fireball, then Iceball. I believe the final part of the trilogy "Ordovician period Murderball" was planned but Iceball just didn't get the box office gross to warrant it 3. Was Professor Michael Mann's hockey stick graph based on sound science or bad statistics? ⁃ Sound science, definitely. Although 1 think his habit of including excessive CGI explosions tends to be a bit distracting. 4. In his Nobel Prize Acceptance in 2007, Al Gore famously said 'The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,' he said. 'It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.' Was he right? ⁃Of course he was right. I've never seen the ice cap in person, so it's obviously not there. I've seen so-called 'pictures' but those are clearly faked like the moon landing. 5. Is CO2 a pollutant? ⁃ Pollutant is such an ugly word. I prefer 'Gassive|attack', sounds cooler. 6. When is the next ice age coming? ⁃ It was meant to be coming on Saturday, but the tube strike has caused confusion in the schedules. Bloody workshy sods, ruining the ice age for everyone
