Crow on a hot fall morning.
The two crows have just chased off one of the Cooper’s hawks from spring. When the hawks were still hanging out mostly in my yard they annoyed the fledgling crows mercilessly but now the crows have grown larger and braver and do not allow the hawk to linger. After they chase it off they are quite proud of themselves and it’s very cute!
A young crow perches in profile on a pine twig, its head is craned backwards as it works on grooming a partially extended wing. It grasps a shoulder feather in its beak and looks up shyly from behind the floofed feathers. Surrounded by many twigs and pine needles.
