update 7AM, SE Texas: Power went out 6:30 am, generator's on. Took dogs out to pee just in time before big rain & gusts started. Got my umbrella to walk to the end of my street & see what the main artery looked like for travel. The cat tried to follow me & meowled in displeasure as she got wet (I toweled her off & she liked it for once).

I called boss to say I'm not coming in because of the wind & roads. Got a snippy comment about "being negative" when I mentioned maybe getting blown off the road if I didn't stay home (damned nervous babbling habit strikes again; TMI never helps me).

But honestly, two-lane roads surrounded by dancing trees & power lines for miles (& a few bridges with low side barriers on them)? No thanks--I at least know I'm safe here.

My house location is generally fine; but I risk being stranded if road issues get too bad. Was stuck at home for 4 days during & after Harvey b/c of road closures. Not risking not being able to get back home.
