I admit I like seeing a lot of houses decorated for Halloween (maybe 1/3 of what's done for Christmas, but I never saw so many til this year). Churches took over Halloween events (houses too far apart for trick or treaters & no safety in numbers thing anymore), but houses are still showing some fun. I like the little comeback.
That said I'm disappointed, too. Last year I wore costumes to tutoring all month long, but this year I don't want to anymore. It was different then & the kids behaved differently. Now I'm spending most of my time trying to make kids get their work done versus helping teach them. I feel like a babysitter that can't punish the kids most days (& some kids & their parents make me just want to up and leave forever). Some of them are utterly disrespectful & I can see them trying to pull off parts of my costume as a joke.
No incentive to be the "fun teacher" when some of the kids are too busy actually trying to piss you off instead of just doing the work & going home.
