update, 8PM, SE Texas: I drove to work this morning and was amazed how many folks were still out of power. I was not expecting so many businesses without it in the main artery before I get to work (I'm off the interstate with my job). Other than the big grocery store, everything else was dark.

So, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised at how insanely crowded the drive-thru was at the place I work, and within half an hour of my showing up, they opened the lobby and I swear, I barely got 1 minute away from the register at a time the whole day. It was supposed to be a short shift (4 hrs), but I stuck around and said I could a few hours more because my other job had no power still, so i wasn't gonna rush over there. I worked 7 hrs and barely had water to drink, so my voice was all croaky by the end.

Boy was I glad to get out when I did... and learned that we were the only store in our chain that was open in 25 miles. And lots of folks without power making the trip. Just wow.
