Thanks to @dh3lix for opening a support ticket and some direct testing I could hunt down the issue with Error 403 to a missing symlink that caused the webserver config for nerdculture.de not to be loaded. The connection was then answered by another Mastodon instance which pretty clear explains the 403 error.
If you experience a login mask from pfSense, then please check whether or not you are accessing Nerdculture.de via HTTP (wrong) or via HTTPS (correct).
"wrong" as in: there might be an issue that leads to the redirect to pfSense.
And please remember that in about 20 mins there will be another downtime for database maintenance!
