I guess the power company was right when they said they were prepping for landfall big time. I don't think the lights even flickered last night & I had the TV (hooked up to my computer) on all night. Still running strong, of course, I'm still a bit worried about all the crap that'll start flying around and possibly trees going down in the road or power lines.

I'm gonna give it a bit longer and then make the call to boss lady that there's no way I'll make it in (wanna make sure about winds first). But no way in hell I'm driving on a 2-lane road with no shoulders and generally steep ditches for miles, surrounded by big trees and power lines.

Usually the first winds hit around 7pm here in previous storms, but it moved so slowly that I didn't hear the first major rain bands until about 2 am, so this is definitely a new experience. This is more powerful than other tropical storms that've kept me and others home as a precaution, so yeah, time to hunker down (and get more sleep if I can).
