I've put in the throughbands in this stretch of wall. I had to bring in a couple of new ones from the bank of the beck. Those with a surface deposit of soil that has blown into the wall are the same way up that they were before.
Those that are clean and have spider nests on them have been turned over because now that's a better fit that way. You get a spider nest under almost every stone of a reasonable size. That's a lot of spiders in a wall. #wildlife #Arachnids
In the rebuild of a dry stone wall, there is a layer of throughbands. These are wide, flattish stones that go all the way through the wall, even projecting a little, to tie the two sides of the wall together.
