As I have previously mentioned, the Delaware River makes a deep cleft through the surrounding mountains. Impressive cliffs tower over several miles of riverbank. It is an attractively wooded, wild-looking area — a surprising find in the heart of a massively industrialized chunk of country. The federal government originally bought up all this land to construct a dam, intending to flood this scenic place and create a reservoir.
A hazy whitewashed summer sky. High atop a ridge crest. A rocky trail through a field of extremely tall grass and weeds with leafy green shrubs. Beyond the crest a series of parallel farming valleys and wooded ridges are ghostly in the thick haze and humidity.
