In news of the growing offshore wind industry in the USA thanks to Democrats, Dominion Energy has agreed to acquire the Kitty Hawk North Wind offshore wind lease area from Avangrid.
The 40K-acre lease, which Dominion will rename CVOW-South, could support 800 MW of offshore wind generation capacity in the 2030s. They paid around $160 million for the rights from Avangrid to add it to their portfolio.
