#WritersCoffeeClub #Writing 8/17 What was your motivation for choosing past or present tense?
I mostly choose past tense, because it's the default for much modern writing, and therefore most invisible. Present tense sticks out. I use it for things that requires more immediacy and closeness, and being set off from the main narrative. (My WIP has a very short dream sequence I render in the present).
I haven't done a fully present tense story since I was an MFA student 30+ years ago. (Gawd.)
