It's so heartening (if bittersweet) to see such an outpouring of appreciation for Gena Rowlands this morning. Her performances are beyond category. Her work epitomizes why I want to make films in the first place.
I watched A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE for the first time in college and it left me dumbstruck. Later I caught ANOTHER WOMAN and that floored me as well. Just two of the many high points in her filmography. What an artist.
