You don't normally think of the DMV as efficient but I have to say, the VA DMV is doing something right. I had to renew my license for Real ID & was prepared for the worst. You complete the application partially online, schedule an appointment, then check in via SMS when you arrive. I arrived/checked in at 9:01 for a 9:15 appt, my number got called after 2 minutes, & even w/ picture, vision check, doc scans, I was out the door by 9:20. Would have been faster but the signature terminal was flaky.
