Reading about the struggles surrounding church closures local to me.
People are vying to have theirs open as long as possible, but at some point there's nobody young enough to do the maintenance, and the money isn't there to hire someone.
Gradually, deconsecration and sale is happening.
By the time a church goes out, it has hardly anyone showing up on sundays.
It's weird compared to 50 years ago, when they seemed eternal.
