Hoy, especially at Lyness, reminds me of the North Pennines in that the landscape is dotted with derelict buildings and earthworks. Instead of old lead mines, these are evidence of structures associated with WW2. This was the oil storage area for the naval ships in Scapa Flow. There's concrete and rusting iron everywhere as well as a shiny new museum.
