1) There's a lot of people that are *only* concerned with the hierarchy of power, where appearance is more important than reality.
2) They think *everyone* thinks this way in private, no matter what they say publicly. Any virtuous act is pure "virtue signaling" for the hierarchy.
3) They love Trump: his constant lying is not lying to them - he is transparently trying to gain power, which is truthful, while the other politicians say they are trying to help people, which is a lie.
