This morning I told my 8yo: "I'm sorry I've been so naggy and scoldy lately. I need to find better ways to help you learn things. Do you agree?"
She was VERY happy. I'll probably relapse - there IS so much to teach her and a lot of it is about breaking bad habits, which is hard to do without a lot of reminders.
But the meta-lesson here, is that caring adults check their behaviors and admit their mistakes. That's more important than table manners.
