People overestimate how much their favourite language accelerates development time, but a language can certainly slow you down with stupid BS.
Playing stupid games with e.g. the preprocessor or templates is so depressing. You're fighting a problem that should never have existed in the first place.
Experts in the language are then expected to know how to deal with this, when the correct solution is usually just to steer well clear.
