1. Responsive to the demands of the electorate and, for the sake of electoral success, are willing to update their policy positions because they're good partners interested in a brighter furure for all. Or...
2. Unresponsive to the demands of the electorate and are willing to lose an election because they are beholden to certain interests, some of which are genocidal, and would happily take an L to prove that point.
