A three-story light-colored stone building squats amid skyscrapers and apartment buildings that surround it. Blue sky and a church dome are visible in the gaps among buildings. The stone building has a row of arched windows below the top row of rectangular windows. Below the roof line are the words "Public library of the City of Chicago", its former purpose. There is a four-way intersection in front of the building. The white striped crosswalks are empty, as are the streets. There are trees on each side of the stone building, as well as street lights that have not yet gone out as the sun rises.
