A good example of why Starfleet vessels need a special emergency hat behind emergency glass like a fire extinguisher. It would be bright orange and have a flashing emergency light. In case of a parallel universe / time travel /alternate reality situation, you would break the emergency glass, switch on the flashing light, and put it on your head. If someone is wearing the hat, it means, "Don't scan me for tachyons, you a--holes, just follow my f***ing instructions."
