During class, we learned about the true reason for the tides. The common explanation is that the moon creates the tides. This is not entirely true or false. The moon does affect tides, but that's only one part of the puzzle. The geography of the landscape and other celestial bodies also have an effect. Next time I go to the beach or someone talks about the tides, I'll remember the true reasons for the tides.
