Type annotations in Python and static code analysis are largely overrated. A lot of time is wasted cluttering the code with type hints, making it more unreadable and incomprehensible, without providing significant added value. Runtime type checks for public APIs or at functional boundaries are much more important and valuable than discussions about TypeVar vs. Generics. The code stops being "pythonic" when there are too many type hints. This does not necessarily make the code more readable.
