NATO was created to deter Russian aggression against the west. The lived experience of ex-Soviet satellite nations naturally led them to join, and their well-founded caution has been validated since Putin first became president.
So of course Ukraine should be welcomed into NATO. They should also be helping Ukraine to decisively win back the territory it's lost to Russian invasion since 2014.
Most signatories to this letter are from conservative/Republican institutions.
