This is an automatic post from a script that walks a list of instances four
times a day querying each instance.

As of 2024-08-16 22:30 (UTC) there are 28,327 responsive instances, 3,594,800 registered non mastodon accounts, and 171,246 active non mastodon accounts.

Dead instances are instances that previously responded to the nodeinfo API but now either don't respond at all or return a HTTP error code. Unknown instances are instances where not enough information is available yet, or instances that don't report an active user count and haven't posted within the last 7 days.
