One of the lucky ones.
I sometimes wonder about the young Ukrainian who got out of his country in time. On a return trip to the US, he was our seat neighbor, tightly holding the envelope with the immigration papers the whole time. If you fly with a person holding an envelope with one corner cut off, say "welcome to America", 😉.
A Green Card Lottery winner, he was headed to a place on the coast north of San Francisco for a new life as a PE teacher and coach. Hope it all worked out.
